Most basic landscaping (planting, garden beds, sod, patios at grade) does not require a permit. Permits may be required for major grading changes, retaining walls over certain heights, pools, decks, or structures or work near protected trees or city right-of-way.
Spring, summer and fall are great for most projects, whereas winter is typically for planning and designing.
Some disturbance is normal during landscaping but these areas will be repaired as part of project completion with either new sod or seed.

Timelines depend on project size and complexity, weather (rain delays are common) and material availability. We provide a clear schedule before starting.
Well-designed landscaping and decks typically increase curb appeal and resale value, especially when built to code with permits and proper drainage.
Deck construction is usually best done from late spring through fall, but planning, design, and permitting can happen year-round. Some groundwork may be delayed due to frozen ground or wet conditions.
Spring and early summer fill up fast. Booking early (late winter / early spring) gives you better scheduling options, time for design and approvals and less stress overall.
Ottawa’s freeze-thaw cycles and heavy spring runoff make drainage critical. Poor drainage can cause patio or paver movement, water near foundations and ice buildup in winter.
Pressure-treated wood (cost-effective, needs maintenance) and Composite decking (low maintenance, higher upfront cost).
We handle soil removal or reuse on-site, disposal of old decks, concrete, or stone and final site cleanup.
